Hey Desertphile, Last October, I had a friend tell me he new where the chest was after I told him about FF. He showed me the place on the map and he said that he had been fishing in the area and that it was there. Ok, no big deal, my spot is WY or MT. Last week, I was getting ready to take trip with my wife to hunt for ghost towns in CO. He asked me if I was going to get the chest where he told me about. I asked why he thought it was there and he said that he saw it. WHAT? What do you mean? He said that he went fishing there a couple of years ago, and while he was walking down to the river he saw a metal box buried in the side of a bluff with part of it showing. It was near where he was walking down to the river to fish (claims its one of the best fishing spots hes been to) One of the guys with him told him it was probably someone’s ashes, and he didn’t think about it until I told him about the TC.
I think that you live in NM, is that right? Anyway, we didn’t make it to the spot on our trip and thought you might want to see if it is still there. I don’t think that it is really FF’s TC but it might be something interesting, hopefully not ashes. At this point I think that FF’ TC could be anywhere.
If you are interested it is 36 49 32.06 n 107 39 03.18 w just down river from the Navaho Lake Dam. There’s a parking area with a trail that goes around just below the top of the mesa. It looks like a small cliff. He said that it was near the “point” of the bluff. I think its about 3 or 4 miles west of the dam.
Thanks, let me know if you are interested or if you might go.
